Flamenco Rosario is proud to present “Flamenqueando” as part of the Victoria Flamenco Festival 2016!
Thursday, August 4 | Hermann’s Jazz Club | Victoria, BC
Flamenco Rosario is known for its spirited, fiery, creative and original flamenco performances and collaborations. The Company maintains strong ties with tradition while also contributing to the evolution of the art form. More so than at any other time in its history, flamenco is dynamically transforming in its practice and choreographic styles, and Flamenco Rosario has embraced these shifts since its inception in 1989.
Artistic Director Rosario Ancer and Musical Director Victor Kolstee founded the dance company in Vancouver, involving professionally trained dancers from around the world as well as graduates of their Professional Training Program. Flamenco Rosario also founded and grew the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival for 26 years, creating platforms for flamenco and young flamenco dancers to flourish in the city of Vancouver.
Over the last two decades, Flamenco Rosario has produced many main stage performances such as Raices, Flamenco Ayer y Hoy, Danzas de España, and Mis Hermanas, Thicker Than Water: My Sisters and I. In addition to producing its own work, Flamenco Rosario has worked with the Vancouver Opera, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Dancing on the Edge, Vancouver Folk Festival, Dancers for Life, Vancouver Sun Concert Series, Dawson City Music Festival, Dance in Vancouver, Vancouver International Dance Festival, and tours provincially, nationally and internationally.
Hermann’s Jazz Club audience will be transformed by Flamenqueando – Rosario and Victor’s latest collaboration with special guest singer Jafelin Helten (Flamencubana) and Company dancers Yurie Kanako & Katia Flores.
