Flamenco Rosario has the first professional training program in Canada offering professional education in flamenco. Trained by locally and internationally renowned teachers, graduates leave our program with impeccable technique, elegance and creativity, and many have gone on to have successful professional careers. The program builds on an intermediate level of flamenco.
“Flamenco dance involves a technique and discipline no less than what is required from a ballet dancer; the understanding of rhythms and the song form as much as any musician does; and it has the freedom that can be found in modern/contemporary dance.” – Rosario Ancer
The program runs for three years in basis of a 10 month year, September to June. For all levels of the training program, the curriculum includes lessons in flamenco technique, choreography, composition, improvisation, and props (bata de cola, castañuelas, abanicos, mantones), as well as instruction in basic ballet, musical training, introductory singing, history, language (Spanish), theory, and terminology.
